I am Barbara Grandon,  a mixed media artist who loves to create art quilts using a number of techniques from raw edge applique,  to piecing, and layering.  I embellish my pieces using various surface design techniques including the use of stamps -both hand made and purchased, thermo-fax screens, beads, acrylic paint, hand dye fabrics and ink. Today I work to achieve a balance of dramatic and improvised tensions of color, stitch, design, and shape to create a piece.

Although not new to a sewing machine or quilting, I am fairly new to Art Quilting. I was exposed to the wonderful world of Art Quilting in October of 2015 when I retired from a career as a registered nurse.  I am an award winning quilter and have been juried into PIQF.  I have a passion for geometric and modern designs and love playing with different color combinations and embellishments.

My husband and I have lived in the Central Valley of California for the past 30 years.  We have 3 grown boys, 6 grandchildren and a  cat  named Romeo.
